Samira Discovery is one of our favourite Red Sea diving liveaboards. It was built in 2014 and then underwent renovations and updates in 2018. It’s 37 metres long & purpose built for diving, ensuring that the 22 guests have plenty of space both in the cabins and around the communal areas. Rates for the week-long cruises are very competitive, with Nitrox fills for free. Trips that are not full one month before departure are often discounted for any remaining spaces, making it even better value.
Starting with Samira’s top deck, there comfortable sun loungers plus sofas & low tables, normally shaded from the sun. The spiral staircase from the sundeck leads down to the upper deck. Here there are four guest cabins, and the popular sofa & bar area. The upper deck guest cabins are two master cabins for couples, and two twin cabins. They all have large sea-view windows, a private bathroom, air conditioning & ample storage areas & electrical sockets. The upper-deck and double cabin rates cost 20% extra on top of the standard cabins. The most-popular area for guests to spend time between dives is the outdoor covered bar & sofa lounge. There are six large sofas with coffee tables, plus stools at the bar. Here guests enjoy the great views & sea breeze, and can share stories over a beer, wine, cocktail or free soft drinks.
MY Samira’s main deck is for enjoying delicious food in air-conditioned comfort, maybe watching a movie, and of course for the diving. The indoor saloon/lounge has space for 22 guests to enjoy the chef’s sumptuous dishes. The meals are served buffet style and consist of international & local food. Anyone with special dietary needs can be catered for, but please let us know beforehand. There are large tables in the dining lounge, & lots of windows to give a bright and airy feel. There is also another section in this room with sofas & coffee tables, and a large tv.
At the rear of Samira’s main deck is the diving platform. It’s divided on two levels, the higher level for gearing up & storing dive equipment, and the lower level for divers’ final moments before taking a giant stride into the sea. Everyone is given their own slot for their equipment between dives. And there are also plastic boxes for your smaller items such as weightbelts & fins. The dive platform’s lower level is well designed and large enough for your group to wait for the all clear before jumping in. And at the end of your dive the boat’s ladders have a clever design to enable divers to easily climb up wearing fins. There are also two bathrooms for changing, taking a shower or answering a final call of nature.
On Samira’s lower deck there are seven comfortable guest cabins, which offer the best value for diving from a luxury Red Sea liveaboard. Six of them are twin cabins with side-by-side single beds, air-conditioning and a private bathroom with hot & cold freshwater showers. Also, at the front of the lower deck is the boat’s largest guest cabin. The huge honeymoon master cabin may not have windows like the upper deck cabins do, but it has lots more space & storage areas.
Two motorized tender dinghies are available to pick up divers if necessary. The compressors and Nitrox system work in near-silence to fill tanks, and there is a full complement of safety equipment and trained personnel at all times.

Itinerary
Samira has several different diving itineraries. Please click on the list below, but be careful to select the itinerary that matches your chosen trip on the schedule. Nearly always they are 7D/7N, with the first & final nights usually spent on board at the harbour (or sometimes in a 4* hotel). The 7D/7N trips have 6 diving days, with reduced dives on the final day to enable guests to fly after disembarkation, and maybe to dry their equipment properly before packing. If the boat’s itinerary goes to the deep south or a marine park there are normally two dives on the first day.
The itineraries below are the most-common for each trip, but these can sometimes be changed for a number of reasons. Small changes are made due to weather & sea conditions, special marine life sightings, overcrowded dive sites, local-authorities' instructions, and the needs & requests of the paying guests. The safety & comfort of all guests is most important at all times.

Courses
There is a range of scuba diving courses available on Samira, but these normally need to be pre-booked in advance, and we cannot guarantee every type of course. The most-popular scuba diving courses on liveaboard boats are the Advanced and Nitrox courses, because these are designed to improve the skills of already-certified scuba divers.
