NOTICE : As of 2021 diving liveaboards are unable to sail into Myanmar for scuba diving cruises. This boat is currently only sailing in Thailand, but will return to Myanmar as soon as possible.
MV Bavaria is a steel-hull diving liveaboard that offers wonderful scuba diving cruises in Burma (Myanmar). The boat is brand new and the team who run Bavaria are very experienced, with an excellent reputation. The boat can accommodate to 24 guests, in a good choice of double and twin cabins. Communal areas and diving facilities are all well-designed, ensuring that the diving trips in Burma run smoothly.
Unlike some other diving boats in Myanmar which are modified fishing boats, MV Bavaria is purpose built. This means that every detail was carefully designed for scuba diving cruises. For example, the diving platform at the rear of the main deck is large and designed to allow all guests to be comfortable & safe before and after each dive. The captain and crew have the latest communication, navigation and safety equipment to ensure that everything goes according to plan.
There are guest cabins on all three of Bavaria’s decks. The main deck has 8 cabins, which are two ‘Deluxe Doubles’ at the front and six ‘Comfort Twins.’ All have large windows and private en suite bathrooms. On the lower deck, there are two ‘Comfort Doubles’ which also have private bathrooms. In addition there are two more twin cabins on the boat’s upper deck, which use shared bathroom facilities, but have large windows and wonderful views of the surrounding area.
MV Bavaria has an air-conditioned lounge saloon, which can be used for watching movies or editing photos or video. However, most guests choose to relax in the open-air covered dining area. Here they can enjoy the wonderful views and the sea breeze, while being protected from the sun and any rain. Those who want to enjoy the sun (or star-filled night sky) can always find space in the boat’s large sundeck, which is on the roof of the boat.
The local crew and western staff on MV Bavaria know how to ensure that every diving trip in Myanmar is fun, comfortable & safe. This includes helping with the diving equipment, using the dinghy to retrieve divers and for beach excursions, and giving the best service at all times. The delicious food is a mixture of (not too spicy) local and western cuisine that is served buffet style several times each day. Diving is hungry work, but Bavaria guests never go hungry!
All in all, MV Bavaria is a great boat that offers wonderful diving cruises in Burma for six days & nights. The boat itself, its team, and the great diving in Burma all combine to make safe & enjoyable trips. However, it’s important to book early because many trips are fully booked months in advance.

Guests need to arrive at the dive centre in Khao Lak early in the morning of departure day. Ideally, the check in process is completed the day before, to minimise delays on departure day.
Before this, guests need to prepare for the trip six weeks in advance by providing the dive centre with documentation, such as proper scans of passports.
