Day Octopus

Octopus cyanea is commonly known as Day Octopus. As one of its common names suggests, this species is diurnal unlike most others which are nocturnal. They live for several years and when they mate the female will tend the eggs and then die. The male will lose his ability to camouflage and soon the ability to hunt, so he will also die soon after mating. O.cyanea occurs in temperate to tropical coastal waters in the Indo-Pacific region.
