Also known as the Blotched Porcupinefish and the Brown-Backed Porcupinefish, Hedgehogfish, and Long-Spined Porcupinefish among other names (Diodon liturosus) is a medium-sized porcupinefish found in the Indo-Pacific region from Japan to Africa. Like its cousins, it inflates its body when threatened by swallowing water. Its spines act as an extra defence from predators, both when the fish is inflated and at other times.
